JC Manufacturing was founded in 1989 with one clear mission: take the tools contractors use every day and turn them into something better for the businesses that sell them.

From the beginning, we saw what others missed. A tape measure, flashlight, or contractor tool did not have to be just another item on a shelf. It could be a high-quality product that performed in the field while also promoting the dealer’s own business every single day.

That idea became the foundation of JC Manufacturing. It is still the foundation today.

Back when we started, contractors were already buying and wearing tape measures every day. But those tape measures carried only the manufacturer’s name.

We looked at that differently.

We recognized that the label area on a tape measure was valuable marketing real estate. By putting the dealer’s name, address, and phone number directly on the product, we transformed a contractor tool into something much more powerful. It became a daily reminder of where that contractor bought it. In effect, it became a business card on the belt of a working contractor.

That was the nuanced angle that helped set JC Manufacturing apart early on, and it remains one of the biggest reasons our products have had such long-term success.

In 2026, JC Manufacturing introduced the next step in label evolution: the dome label.
